Biography
Dr. Prem Chand Shridhar is an eminent Vedic scholar and zealous missionary for Arya Samaj. He has been a Pracharak for Arya Samaj for nearly 35 years. In the service of Arya Samaj and his missionary work, he has traveled all over India, Kenya, England, Canada and the USA, spreading the divine knowledge of the Vedas and "Return to Vedas" message of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He has a passion for the Vedic scriptures, and it radiates from him when he begins to talk about the Vedic Dharma. His passion is contagious like the Raman Effect. It is not enough to read the Vedic Dharma; it should radiate from each one of us. In the presence of Shridhar ji, even an ordinary person begins to glow! He holds a Ph.D. degree from the Delhi University with a thesis titled "Philosophical Reflections in Rigvedic Legends" and has several other degrees. He has published a number of articles and books on Vedas, Vedic Culture, and Arya Samaj and has presented papers at many conferences in India and abroad. His published work on Vedic Culture and Arya Samaj includes books in English and Hindi, which spread the message of the Vedas. He was a Visiting Professor at Hindu University of America in Florida. He is a member of Hindu Writers Forum and World Association for Vedic Studies. He has been Joint Editor of the research journal “International Journal of Dayanand Veda Peetha”. Recognition for his work and social services include: (1) Shri Lalman Arya Vedic Vidwan Puraskar by Arya Kendriya Sabha, Delhi, and (2) Shri Meghji Bhai Arya Sahitya Puraskar by Santa Cruz Arya Samaj, Mumbai. Acharya ji is a simple man with a beautiful smile, a gentle personality and an excellent sense of humor. He is a self-effacing man, never taking credit for his work and always giving credit to others. Dr. Shridhar is excited about the challenges and opportunities that the Arya Samaj Greater Houston and the Hindu community in Houston offer. His message and theme is that the words of Swami Dayanand are still as effective as ever in keeping our minds and lives stress-free, balanced and in harmony with nature. He is especially keen to give our children Naitik Shiksha and provide the background to a very rich heritage and culture to which they belong.
